The QTekLaser™ 497 nm Fiber Laser utilizes two second-harmonic generation (SHG) stages to deliver stable, single-frequency, polarization-maintaining light at 1 W. Beam quality is < 1.1 and relative intensity noise stays below -125 dBc/Hz above 10 kHz. An IoT-enabled interface and 19" rack-mount chassis make it straightforward to integrate into quantum and precision-spectroscopy systems.
Need a different wavelength? The 497 nm system is one configuration of our second-harmonic generation (SHG) platform covering 466-535 nm. We routinely build custom wavelengths across this range. Tell us your target line.
QTekLaser™ offers laser systems with extended wavelength range by combining nonlinear frequency conversion technologies. Through second-harmonic generation (SHG) we achieve significant laser power in the visible and NIR regime (figure 2; red-shaded cells of table 1). With the development of periodically poled crystal technology and the associated waveguide technology, nonlinear frequency conversion has become a powerful tool to extend the application scope of fiber lasers. For QTekLaser™ products, the maximum power of the converted laser light is constrained by the damage threshold of commercially available nonlinear crystals, which is typically several tens of watts.

QTekLaser™ lasers comply with Federal Regulations (21 CFR Subchapter J, Part 1040) as administered by the Center for Devices and Radiological Health and are certified to IEC 60825-1:2014 standards.
It is the end user's responsibility to ensure that no significant light is retroreflected back into QTekLaser™ systems as this can degrade performance and potentially damage the lasers. To prevent this, the use of an external optical isolator is strongly recommended. Damage due to retroreflected light is not covered under warranty.
The 497 nm system delivers 1 W of single-frequency blue-green light at 496.8 nm for ytterbium-based quantum computing and atomic physics. This wavelength drives the 6s6p ³P₂ → 6s6d ³D₂ transition in neutral ytterbium. The upper state decays through ³P₁ back to the ¹S₀ ground state, so it can quickly empty the long-lived ³P₂ state. That is useful for depumping atoms after ³P₂ shelving on the 507 nm transition, for resetting qubits, and for recovering atoms that leak into ³P₂ in tweezer arrays and optical lattices. M² of 1.02 and low relative intensity noise (<-125 dBc/Hz above 10 kHz) give efficient fiber coupling and stable addressing, and 1 W is enough to drive the transition across large atom arrays.
It can also be used in strontium-based quantum computing, optical clocks and atomic physics. This wavelength drives the 5s5p ³P₂ → 5s5d ³D₂ transition in neutral strontium. That transition repumps atoms stranded in the long-lived ³P₂ state back into the cooling cycle, which keeps atom number and loading rate high in magneto-optical traps, optical lattices and tweezer arrays.
